What to know about ATTR-CM
ATTR-CM can get worse over time
The cardiomyopathy of ATTR amyloidosis (ATTR-CM) can be caused by changes associated with aging (called wild-type ATTR) or by an inherited gene variant passed down through families (called hereditary ATTR). In both types, a protein called transthyretin (TTR) changes shape and builds up in your heart and other tissues in the body. This buildup, also known as amyloid deposits, can cause a variety of symptoms.
Symptoms of ATTR‑CM can affect the heart and other parts of the body
In people with ATTR‑CM, the heart's ability to pump blood is reduced—a condition known as cardiomyopathy, which can lead to heart failure. Below are some, but not all, of the symptoms that can occur with ATTR‑CM:

- Abnormal sweating
- Sexual dysfunction
- Weakness
- Pain or tingling in arms or legs
- Kidney dysfunction
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
